Abstract:Effect of boron on the properties of Cr-Mn-Ti gear steel produced by the process routing of EAF-LF-VD-bloom continuous casting-rolling was investigated. Tapping weight was 50t to 52t, the boron content was in the range of 0.0008% to 0.0010%, billet with size of 260mm×300mm was rolled to round steel with 130mm for the contrast experiments. The experimental results show that the hardenability of Cr-Mn-Ti gear steel added trace boron is improved when main components of steel is kept unchanged, or the content of Mn, Cr is decreased befittingly.
