Abstract:The Canadian iron concentrate has a high ferrous grade and low contents of gangue and harmful elements, which provides a favorable condition for its use during the sintering process. The effect of the iron concentrate on the bonding strength of the sinter body and the influencing mechanism were investigated through the microsintering method. The liquid phase fluidity of the fines and the liquid absorbability of the coarse particles were studied on four kinds of iron ore fines. Based on this, the improvement method for the bonding strength of sinter body was explored and verified via bonding tests. The results show that blending the iron concentrate in ore blends decreases the separation basicity of adhering fines and weakens the liquid phase fluidity, hence deteriorating the bonding strength of the sinter body. Highsilica iron ore fines have a high liquid phase fluidity of the fines under a fixed basicity, and the lowporosity iron ore fines weaken the liquid absorbability of the coarse particles. Under blending the iron concentrate in ore blends, using the high liquid phase fluidity iron ore fines, weak liquid absorbability iron ore fines, and largeparticle divided adding for strong liquid absorbability iron ore fines can effectively improve the bonding strength of the sinter body.
