Formation and prevention of longitudinal surface cracks in peritectic steel slab
Longitudinal crack is the most common surface defects arising in as-cast slabs. It is well-known that peritectic steel are particularly vulnerable to longitudinal cracking, this problem has long plagued the metallurgical workers. With the development of hot delivery and hot charging and thin slab continuous casting-continuous rolling technology, no defects casting billet production become even more important. Combined with previous studies and the author’s work, this paper discussed the formation of longitudinal cracks of peritectic steel and reviewed the countermeasures to prevent it. We hope this has some benefit for solve the problem of longitudinal crack on peritectic steel slab.

This article analysis the mould frequency sticking by hydrogen, present and put in practiced the countermeasure that avoid hydrogen increasing.The countermeasure kept the sticking within limits, increased the slab on-gauge rate, reduced the unplanned closing down and breakout.

Beam blank continuous casting using a flat submerged nozzle design and development
A super-flat shaped submerged entry nozzle (SEN) was developed for Laigang Beam blank Caster to achieve full protection casting. The nozzle has bilateral pore structure at the end of work outlet, and its diversion mode has been optimized by different casting speed and cross-section, which based on the molten steel flow of mold, free surface fluctuation and a comprehensive metallurgical behavior such as heat transfer, solidification etc. Thermal production test show it is feasible that the use of single flat shape SEN beam blank continuous casting to achieve full protection of casting. The SEN design had significant mold pool surface stability and the promotion of the role of mould powder melting, life Initial meet the requirement, both inside and outside the slab quality significantly improved.

An Improved Image Enhancement Method Based-on Reformative Histogram Specification and Its Application in Continuous Cast Slab
According to the characteristics of gray image, the histogram specification algorithm based on 3-spline interpolation was introduced in this article, which obtained image enhancement in continuous casting sheet billet image. Based on the theory of histogram specification algorithm, the improved algorithm adopts 3-spline interpolation to fit the original histogram image, and uses the fitting function to process the histogram specification. The comparative experimental analysis of the improved histogram specification algorithm and the traditional histogram specification algorithm based on Gaussian probability density function (Gaussian PDF) examines and certifies the effectiveness and practicability of the modified algorithm.

Study on properties of Basic castable refractories for ladle lining
Effect of Al2O3 powder addition on properties of Basic castable refractories is investigated with magnesite as main raw materials. We investigated properties of the castable with the different Al2O3 powder addition by drying at 110℃ for 24 hours and sintering at 1500℃ for 3 hours. The experiment shows that. more or less 5% Al2O3 powder not only increase the ratio of apparent porosity but also decrease its cold crushing strength and slag resistance to some degree. The Basic castable refractories has good properties when ddition of Al2O3 powder is 5%,It can remarkably improve properties.
