Abstract: The flange made of 0Cr18Ni9 stainless steel was found to have gas leakage during the inspection, and the color flaw detection revealed that there were many circumferential cracks near the welding. Through macroscopic and microscopic morphology, microstructure, chemical composition, hardness testing and other methods, the causes of flange crack formation were analyzed. The results showed that flange cracking was intercrystalline stress corrosion cracking, which had no obvious direct correlation with welding sensitization effect. The main reason for the formation of cracks was the unreasonable material selection and thermal processing technology, which led to increased stress corrosion sensitivity of the material, and stress corrosion cracking occurred under the action of assembly stress, residual stress and the corrosive environment containing Cl and S elements.
