Abstract:The primary source of the hydrogen in ESR ingots is the hydrogen in the electrodes, flux moisture, and water vapor in the atmosphere during remelting. The hydrogen content of ESR metal can be reduced mainly by degasification of the steel for electrodes, calcining the fluxes and reducing the partial pressure of water vapor in atmosphere.
