On the Performance Improvement of Steels through M3 Structure Control
This paper introduces a new research project granted by national basic research program of China (973 program), which is the third phase for New Generation Steel research. The project aims to systematically investigate the microstructure evolution phenomena in steels and to form the new microstructure control technologies for high performances, by which the safety of steels in service could be eventually improved remarkably. The issues such as steel metallurgy for ultra clean and ultra homogeneous microstructures, phase transformation mechanisms of meta-stable austenite subject to temperature and load changes, carbon diffusion during transformation, multi-scale characterization of transformed microstructures, and microstructure stability in the circumstances of temperature, load and corrosion in service. It is expected to develop the theory of microstructure control featured by Multi-phase, Meta-stable and Multi-scale (M3). It is also to form the prototype technologies for manufacturing high performance steels such as the third generation high strength low alloy steel, the third generation auto sheet steel, and the third generation heat resistant martensitic steels. It will provide the fundamentals for improving safety of steels in service for infrastructures, automobiles and fossil power station.

Impact of Basicity on Softening and Dripping of Carbon Composite Iron Ore Hot Briquette
The carbon composite iron ore hot briquette (CCB) is a new type of iron-making material, which utilizes the thermal plasticity of coal for enhancing its high-temperature strength. It also bears excellent physical property, fine metallurgical property, and wide adaptability. Under the experimental condition, softening and dropping property of CCB is researched. By changing the basicity in CCB and investigating the property of softening and dripping, the proper range of the basicity is radiated.

Study of Coal Modifying Additive’s Influence on Un-coking Coal Blended in Coal Blending
By developing a new coal modifying additive (ZZZ) which be applied to modify the un-coking coal’s ability, in order to blended the modified un-coking coal in coal blending. The coke’s quality improved, which blended modified un-coking coal, the ratio of un-coking coal increased, the cost of coal blending reduced, and the coking coal’s resources can be broadened. The coking test of blended un-coking coal was carried out in 2kg coking-oven, the influence of ZZZ on coke’s quality was studied. Through the test we had known that the best particle size of hard coal is less than 3mm (70% of them less than 1mm). The opium ratio of un-coking coal is 15% which contain hard coal and blowing soft coal were 5% and 10% respectively; meanwhile the ratio of ZZZ is 0.10%. The coke’s quality form this program can be up to the level of coke produced in Nanjing Iron and Steel Co..

The study on proportioning of high rate iron concentrate at 450m2 sinter plant
Abstract: on the basis of the analysis and research of the several ordinary imported ores ,the research of optimizing the ore proportioning which used the extra fine concentrate A of Taiyuan steel mill which size is 85 percent below 320 meshes and the several imported ores was studied,it is found out the reasonable ore proportioning technology which apply 38 to 45 percent of concentrate A and the ores from Australia and Brazil. In order to cope with the negative influence of financial crisis and make full use of owned-resource and cheap imported ores,the steel works enhance the proportion of concentrate A to 51 percent and add 9 percent of E ore from Australia instead of the expensive D ore from Brazil in the latter half of 2008. The technology adopted a series of effective measures which including optimizing the technologic parameter of mixture pelletizing,content of moisture,machine speed and the open degree of blower valve.The yield and quality of sinter ore completely satisfied the demand of large blast furnace furthermore it lay the foundation of adding up the proportion of iron,save coke ratio and optimize index of the 4350m3 blast furnace .The cost of sinter ore proportioning decrease about 86 million yuan per year arriving at great effect.

Experimental Study on Fluidization of Ultra-fine High Phosphorus Hematite Powder
In this paper, based on the theories in fluidization, we design the experimental study fluidized bed reactor which meets the requirements of us, and we use it for different size of the hematite ore fines in fluidized flow law of a number of cold-state-based research, especially for the ultra-fine powder particle with the average size of 2μ ,in order to provide some reference for follow-up studies and experiments of the Phosphorus reduction of High Phosphorus Hematite. And as a result, experiment achieves the fluidization process of each conventional particles size grade. And the difference between critical fluidization velocity of experimental measurements and theoretical calculation is small. Including the fluidization process of Less 200M particle size and ultra-fine particles (with an average particle size of 2μ) as follows: at low gas velocity, the ore powder particles bed appears channeling at first; with gas velocity increasing and channeling increasing, slugging is formed sometimes, gas velocity to achieve far more than a theory of the initial fluidization velocity of the critical value (crack speed), the bed suddenly splits into many small groups gather, these small groups and small particles present a good uniform fluidized state. This paper’s mainly calculation involves the calculation of critical fluidization velocity of particle and particle terminal velocity calculations.

The present paper mainly introduced the research and development on nitrogen control in IF steel production in recently years, and summarized the technique on low nitrogen production and nitrogen pick up prevention technique. According to the actual application in production of these technique, nitrogen control level of If steel in the slabs was raised significantly and kept more stable.

Analysis of Influencing Factors on Si Content of SPHC Steel

Research on the peeling causes of pipeline steel
By the observation of microstructures and the analysis of SEM(scanning electron microscope) and EDS(energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry), the hot rolled plate peeling defects of pipeline steel are studied. It shows that the surface microcrack is found in continuous casting slab, and the elements of O, Si, Al, Ca, Cu are enriched around the crack. The main reason for hot rolled plate surface peeling is the slsb surface microcrack which is caused by oxide inclusions and copper content overproof. Finally, the influence mechanism of nonmetal oxide and low melting point metal on slab surface microcrack is discussed, and the preventive measures are presented correspondingly.

Application of Variable Contact Backup Roll Contour and Configuration Technology on Roughing Mills of a Hot Wide Strip Mill
Within more than one year time after 2250 mm Hot Strip Mill of Qian’an Iron and Steel Company of Shougang Steel Corporation was commissioned in the end of 2006, strip shape control precision of was relatively lower and needs to be raised. One of the factors resulting to that problem is that the transfer bar usually had bad profile and large camber after its roughing rolling. And that kind of transfer bar will result strip shape defects of buckles, camber, wedge and tower coils after rolling work of finishing mill. For enhancing the control precision of strip shape, roll contour design and optimization works have been done. One kind of variable contact backup roll contour curve (VCR) with a six order of polynomials and negative crown contour were designed and applied respectively on back-up roll and work roll of roughing mill stand R1 and R2 instead of conventional flat backup roll. After the new backup roll contour technology and roll shape configuration mentioned above was applied on roughing mill, large improvement on crown, wedge and camber quality of transfer bar is obtained, and strip shape quality of hot rolled product has been raised by 10 percent.

Study on Roll End Forced-contract in Thin Strip Rolling
The phenomenon of Roll kiss in thin strip rolling has been studied by FEM, the influence of roll kiss on flatness control action has been computed, the concept of critical roll kiss force which is important to mill type design and rolling process develop. The critical roll kiss force domain of three common mill types in thin strip rolling has been compared, pointed out that the HC (UC) series mill types are beneficial to reduce roll kiss in thin strip rolling, at the same time the those mill types have been optimized and improved from perspective of roll profile, and through calculation authenticated that the optimized mill types are more beneficial to reduce roll kiss in thin strip rolling. On the base of simulation, according to the problem of roll kiss in a tin-plating temper mill, the technical program of optimization on middle roll shift and roll profile, tested and obtained obvious effect.

σ phase precipitation and its effect on mechanical properties of S32205 duplex stainless steel
σ phase precipitation and its effect on mechanical properties of S32205 duplex stainless steel were analyzed by color-OM, SEM, EDS, hardness measurements and tensile tests in this paper. The results show that σ phase begins to nucleate at γ/α or α/α interfaces after 15 min aging, and then grows into the surrounding ferrite areas. The formation mechanism is a transformation of α into γ2 and σ. The amount of σ phase increases with prolonging aging time, which enhances obviously the hardness and strength of the steel, while, the formed σ phase decreases severely the ductility. The types of tensile fracture are changing from the typical ductile rupture to the brittle fracture characterized by quasi-cleavage crack.

Effect of Long-Term Aging below 595℃ on Mechanical Properties of M152 Martensitic Heat-Resistant Steel
The effect of long-term aging below 595℃ on mechanical properties and microstructural evolution ,as well as the mechanism of embrittlement of M152 heat resistant steel are investigated experimentally by means of optical micrograph , TEM and mechanical property tests. The result shows that strength would be reduced gradually during the aging at 595℃ , due to the structural recovery which resulted in the decrease of dislocation density , and the transformation of dispersed M2C and M7C3 carbides within original structure of samples into coarsened M23C6 carbides . The main cause of aging embrittlement was the combination of non-equilibrium segregation to grain boundary of impurities and carbides precipitated in grain boundary , and that was continuous precipitate of M2C carbides along martensitic lathes in the earlier stage of aging.

Study on the Production Process of 780MPa Grade Steel Plates with Low Yield Ratio for High-rise Buildings
In this paper, steel plate for buildings with high strength and low yield ratio was studied in laboratory. The microstructure of test steel was controlled by proper composition design, controlled rolling and UFC technology in order to increase strength and decrease yield ratio. It has been shown that the composite microstructure of soft phase ( bainite ferrite ) and hard phase ( M/A ) can be obtained when UFC final cooling temperature was about 690℃, and the percentage of M/A component is about 9.2%. The yield strength and tensile strength could meet the requirements of 780 MPa grade, and the yield ratio was about 0.7.

The Function of Inclusions containing Mg during solid transformation
There could be found any fine inclusions containing Mg whose sizes were less than 300nm.To study the function of the inclusions containing Mg during TMCP rolling art, The hot rolling simulation art was carried out on Gleeble-3800.in X120 pipeline steel with Mg treatment. It was found that the inclusions containing Mg could act as the nucleuses of fine deformed austenite during rolling, and also as the nucleuses of intragranular ferrite during transformation process from austenite to ferrite where the size of austenite was within 20µm and even 10µm. It also found the function of the inclusions during the solid transformation.

Effect of Alloying Components on the Micro-structure and Property of Bainitic H-beam
Aim at development and study H-beam of bainite in this essay. Study the effect of the alloying elements of different steel to micro-structure and property.The results showed that ultra-low carbon and suitable B and Nb is the key to assure high strength and high toughness of those materials. By researching the low-cost alloying components which suit for H-beam of bainite the material was finded.

Effect of Boron on Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Welding-Induced Coarse Grain Heat-Affected Zone of V-N Microalloyed Steel
In this work, the microstructure and mechanical properties of welding-induced coarse grain heat-affected zone (CGHAZ) were investigated in V-N microalloyed steels prepared by typical addition of N (120ppm) and dual addition of N and B (210ppm+17ppm). The results show that a trace addition of boron into the V-N microalloyed steel resulted in a decreased fraction and size as well as a denser distribution of M-A by suppressing the transformation of proeutectoid ferrite (PF) and improving the form of acicular ferrite (AF) and bainitic ferrite (BF) in the CGHAZ at each t8/5. The CVN toughness of CGHAZ was therefore significantly improved.

Construction and Application of Water Flow Chart in Coking Process
Abstract: Based on the work flow of coking process ,the water flow chart of coking process was built and its valuation index of water-using was confirmed by using the tracking observation principle (The Lagrangian principle) of the material flow analysis theory combined with medium and small cycle theory of system energy conservation. Based on this, the water-using situation of coking process in the iron and steel corporation爓as analyzed. Through investigation and analysis of the data of the coking process in a certain iron and steel enterprises in 2008, the water flow chart and valuation index of water-using of coking process was built , its water-using situation and the deficiencies of water system were analyzed and evaluated. At last, the water-saving effect was compared than before.

Numerical simulation of High Temperature Air Combustion in an industrial furnace with different burner configuration
A numerical simulation was carried out on the High Temperature Air Combustion in an industrial furnace with a multi-jet burner. The furnace was a rectangular chamber of 800mm×800mm×1400mm. A circular fuel jet of a diameter of 10mm is at the center of the wall. 5 circular air jets equably distributed around the fuel jet with different straddle angles. PDF (Probability Density Function) combustion model based on a  function was selected to simulate the gas combustion combined with the standard k- model to simulate the flow field. The radiation was simulated by a Discrete Ordinates method. The NOx emission was simulated by thermal NOx model. The effect of the burner configuration on the combustion characteristics was discussed. When the distance between the air and fuel jets increased, the mixing of the fuel and air could be effectively delayed and an obvious recirculation zone appeared between the air jets and fuel jet that reduced the local oxygen concentration. More fuel would be burnt in the low oxygen region and combustion zone and the flame volume were both increased which made the temperature distribution became more equable and local high temperature was suppressed. When the dimensionless distance between the air and fuel jets was 2.5, a minimum NOx emission of 45 ppm was achieved at 15% O2. The smaller the straddle angle of the preheated air was, the better the mixing of the fuel, oxygen and the flue gas became, which resulted in a stable flame, an enlarged low-oxygen zone, an equable temperature distribution and a suppressed local high temperature. When the straddle angle of the preheated air increased, the burner disposal is more like the jets with the same axis. The recirculation of the high temperature flue gas in the furnace only played the role to stabilize the combustion and the local low oxygen region will disappear. At the 15% O2 condition, when the straddle angle of the preheated air is 120°, the final NOx emission can be reduced about 65% compared with that when the straddle angle of the preheated air is360°. When the declining angle of the fuel jet increased from 0 to 30°, the maximum and mean temperature in the furnace both decreased and the final NO emission decreased.
