Iron and Steel Industry Development and Technological Innovation in China
equipments growing larger in scale; longer life of blast furnaces and converters; coalpowder injection for blast furnace, slag splash technology for converter, and the high ratio of continuous casting for steelmaking process; comprehensive energy consumption and productivity in large and medium steel plants getting close or reaching the world’s advanced level; the output of plates and tubes making up almost 50% of the total products; China is becoming the largest country in the production and consumption of stainless steel.China’s iron and steel industry is constrained by resources and environment. To build up a resourcesaving and environmentfriendly steel industry, China has to form an industrial chain of circulareconomy with steel plants as its core, which carries out three functions of producing high quality steel products, highefficient energy transformation, and utilizing wastes of society.Despite of the rapid expanding in its producing capacity, China’s iron and steel industry has made considerable progress in increasing the strength of steel for construction and fastenings, developing steel for automobiles, and upgrading the performance of pipeline steel, bearing steel, and die steel.

Experimental Research on Desulphurization Capacity of High TiO2 and Al2O3 BF Slag
According to the metallurgical condition at Chenggang, the desulphurization capability of slag with high TiO2 and Al2O3 content was studied. The effects of different factors on desulphurization capacity were also studied. The results show that, the favorable slag composition for desulphurization is:basicity (CaO/SiO2) is about 1.16, MgO content is about 13%, Al2O3 content is from 12% to 13%, TiO2 content should be as low as possible.

Study of Shape of Cooling Water Pipe in Stave
The aim of this study was to explore the reasonable shape and arrangement of cooling water pipes in stave. Using numerical simulation method,The influence of cooling water pipe crosssection and their arrangenont on cooling effect of stave was analysed.The resistance of different cooling water pipes was studied with hydraulic experiment. The results showed that the round internally connected pipe is the best for cast steel stave; elliptical is suitable for copper stave, the cooling capacity of stave can be increased and cooling water saved when the ellipticity is 08. The results of this study are likely to provide technical assistance to optimize blast furnace stave.

Preliminary Study on Effects of Charging System of Blast Furnace on Gas Flow Distribution
Gas flow distribution affects directly the campaign and efficiency of blast furnace (BF).The proper and optimum distribution of gas flow should be provided. However, the closeness and complexity bring great difficulty on measuring the gas flow. In practice, gas flow distribution in stack is estimated by measuring top gas distribution. Recently, numerical simulation is a new and effective method for research on gas flow,The flow field and temperature field of gas were calculated with numerical simulation. According to the velocity field of gas in different parts of BF, it was found that burden distribution is a determinant factor of rational gas flow distribution in the mid and upper stack and formation of cohesive zone. In addition,the gas flow distribution in lower stack can be controlled by blasting mode.The importance of burden distribution is discussed with practice of BF. The conclusion is:a good charging system is the keystone of BF operation, the effect of burden permeability on radial distribution of gas flow is great while the effect of initial gas flow distribution is small, and the gas flow distribution in lower stack is hard to be reflected by top gas flow.

Study on Catalytic Mechanism of Boudouard Reaction
Influence of salts of alkaline metals,composite oxides and holoids on boudouard reaction was studied by XRD analysis and thermogravimetry experiment. For salts of alkaline metals with same anion, the power sequence of the catalytic effect is K+>Na+>Li+; for the composite oxides with same cation, the power sequence is NO3->OH->CO32->SO42->SiO32->PO43-; for the haloid with same cation, the power sequence is F->Cl->I->Br-.A new catalytic mechanism is proposed: the catalytic effect of a catalyst is attributed to the change of CC chemical bond by catalyst. The effect of catalysts depends on the kinds of cations and anions and stability of compounds .

Experimental Study on Gasification Dephosphorization of Converter Slag With Reduction by Silicon
From 1773 K to 1973 K, the reduction experiments of converter slag simulated for slag splashing by silicon were carried out in a vacuum graphite tube resistance furnace. The result indicates that among the four influencing factors of reducing dephosphorization, temperature is uppermost influencing factors, the content of FeO takes the second place, nitrogen takes the third place, and basicity takes the fourth place. The optimum conditions for gasification dephophorization during slag splashing were determined,the gasification dephophorization rate by reduced slag can reach to 81.23%.

Fluid Flow in RH Reactor Under Different Parameters of Immersion Tubes
The homogeneous model was used to study the fluid flow in RH reactor with different parameters of immersion tubes. While the immersion tubes are located eccentrically, larger eddies appear near the down immersion tube at the bottom of vacuum chamber, under free surface of vacuum chamber and in ladle, but no obvious effect on the recirculation flow rate was observed. While the distance between two tubes is decreased, the recirculation flow rate decreases, and the recirculation near the left wall of the vacuum chamber is enhanced. The recirculation flow rate increases with the immersion depth. In order to increase the recirculation flow rate, either the immersion depth of immersion tubes should be reduced or the distance between immersion tubes,should be increased and if slag entrapment should be avoided at same time.

Application of Dynamic Control System With OffGas Analysis to 60 t Converter
The application of dynamic control system with offgas analysis to the 60ton topblown converter at Laiwu Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. is introduced. The main contents include the configuration of hardware system, data collection and communication, standardization of blowing process and dynamic control models.The following results were obtained: the hitting rates of carbon and temperature were 89% and 71% respectively, the simultaneous hitting rate of both C and T was 64% when the end point carbon content and temperature were in the range of 008%0.24% and 15801660 ℃, with an accuracy of controlling C and T were ±0.025% and ±20 ℃ respectively;In order to increase the simultaneous hitting rate of both end point carbon and temperature, it is necessary to improve the management of raw materials, carry out charging according to the charging model, adopt standardized operation and especially apply topbottom combined blowing technique.

Study of Surface Transverse Cracks on 304 Strip Produced by TwinRoll Strip Casting
The surface transverse cracks on AISI304 strip produced by twinroll strip casting were studied using optical microscopic observation and colored metallographic analysis,with consideration of the near rapid solidification characteristics of strip casting.The results indicated that the surface transverse cracks are formed during solidification. The prime reason of cracking is closely related to difference in solidification rate, of the surface,caused by level fluctuation in molten steel pool, cold scars and surface defects of rolls and so on. The tensile stress induced during subsequent cooling and coiling is the main reason for transverse crack expansion.

Research on Rolling Shear With Single Axle and Asymmetric Negative Offset
A new plate cutting machine with single axle and asymmetric negative offset is introduced. The cutting force, compression force of crank arms, backward pushing force for remaining constant blade clearance are analyzed, and formula of asymmetry is deduced. Furthermore, the mechanical characteristics of the negative offset structure is analyzed and a method to determine negative offset range is presented. The theoryetical analysis and practice indicated that the asymmetric negative offset structure is important for increasing cutting quality and prolonging cutting edge life.

FEM Analysis of Slab Induction Heating
Induction heating of hot rolled slab at different frequency was analysed by finite element method. The results show that both frequency and slab shape have important influence on induction heating. The skin effect is not obvious at low frequency and the relation between eddy current penetration depth and frequency is δ∝ f-12. The maximum temperature is at top surface apart from symmetry axis. The maximum temperature moves to corner with the increase of frequency and proper frequency should be selected for different heating technology.The induction heating process was simulated according to a practical technology. The calculated results were compared with measured ones and the maximum deviation was lese than 4%,good enough for engineering. The analysis provides useful help for research and application of induction heating hot rolled slabs steel.

Research on Controlling Profile and Flatness of High Strength Pipeline Steel in Hot Rolling
With the wide use of strength pipeline steel, the profile and flatness of high strength pipeline steel plate becomes a subject of concern.Due to high strength of pipeline steel, low finishing temperature and great rolling force on each stand, the shape of the product is difficult to control. However, by use of LVC work roll and relevant work roll shifting and banding technology on upstream stands from F2 to F4, and long stroke roll shifting system on down stream stands, varying contact rolling technology on all the stands, the profile and flatness control for high strength pipeline steel product has been greatly improved on 2150 hot strip mill at Angang. The qualification rate of crown increased from 18.79% to 97.98%, and the roll changing period prolonged. Now, the mill is running stably.

Study on Vibration Mechanism of CSP Mill Caused by Chatter Marks
By site testing and data analyzing for F2 and F3 stands which vibrate more seriously, it was found that the frequency of the chatter marks is equal to the vibration frequency. The calculation result shows that the length of chatter marks on the roller and strip transferred on to rolling interface is equal to the contact arc length, which indicates that there is a direct relation between the chatter marks and the contact arc. Based on such observation, a mechanism of mill vibration was constructed. During the rolling process, chatter marks on the work roller are spreading from initial marks,making the mill vibration aggravated. This mechanism was supported by monitoring data,and is important for vibration prevention on same kind of mills.

Analysis of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of BG510L Strip Produced by FTSR
Considering the specifics of FTSR(flexible thin slab rolling), the chemical composition and rolling technology of BG510L steel were designed. Comparing the products of FTSR and traditional rolling process,it was shown, that the microstructure of BG510L strip produced by FTSR is finer; the strength is lower and the elongation is higher. By optimizing the chemical composition and rolling technology, the strength of BG510L steel produced by FTSR have been increased obviously with high stability of mechanical properties.

Investigation of Blooming of Austenitic Stainless Steel Ingot by ECAP
High temperature solution treatment of ECAPed samples of austenitic stainless steel ingot was studied experimentally , and both microstructure and properties of ECAP + solution samples were compared with that of forging + solid solution samples, the results show that full recrystallized microstructure of samples ECAPed at room and elevated temperature was obtained after solid solution at 1150 ℃.The increase of ECAP pass number has no effect on grain size, however homogeneity can be improved.After ECAP + solution treatment, both microstructure and properties of cast austenitic stainless steel samples are as same as that of forging + solution ones, showing that ECAP is a suitable method to replace blooming.

Effect of Hot Deformation Parameters on Phase Transformation in Austenite NonRecrystallization Region of Niobium Steel
By using of ThermecomastorZ machine, the transformation of 0.128%Nb microalloyed low carbon steel in austenite nonrecrystallization region during continuous cooling was studied.The effect of the deformation parameters(deformation temperature, strain rate, strain) on the transformation was analyzed. The results indicate that transformation start temperature drops with the raising of cooling rate. when the cooling rate higher than 5 ℃/s, more than 90% of the structure is granular bainite. Increasing deformation temperature, enhancing strain and increasing strain rate can accelerate transformation.

Ductile to Brittle Transition of SuperHigh Nitrogen Austenitic Stainless Steel
The DBTT of superhigh nitrogen containing austenitic stainless steel was measured by Charpy impact test from roomtemperature to -60 ℃ , and the ductility and brittleness transition at low temperature was investigated by SEM, TEM and XRD methods. The results show that except a lot of fault ribbons and high density dislocations the structure of austenitic matrix is not changed during Charpytype test.The fracture is changed from dimple to dimple and cleavagelike to cleavagelike, and fracture mode is a mixed one with transgranular as primary.

Study on Making Absorbent From Solid Waste for Low Concentration Sintering Flue Gas
According to the results of analysis of refining slag and coal ash , it is possible to use them as absorbent for low concentration sintering flue gas.A new method of preparing such absorbent by microwave heating was tested. Experimental results show that the absorbent has better desulfurization and denification capacity after microwave heating,with maximum desulphurization and denification rate of 53.8% and 53.6% respectively.
