Abstract:In order to find out the reasonable and effective dechlorination system of blast furnace slag and maximize the dechlorination capacity, on the basis of the thermodynamic analysis of chlorine reactions in blast furnace, the effects of chemical composition, temperature and the time in high temperature of blast furnace slag on the dechlorination capacity were studied. The results show that the dechlorination rate rised with the rising basicity and fell with the rising temperature. The increase of [w(MgO)]made the dechlorination capacity increase first and then decrease, while for the condition with increasing[w(Al2O3)], the dechlorination capacity improved first and with[w(Al2O3)]beyond 16%, the dechlorination rate had no significant change. The extended time in high temperature had a negative effect on the dechlorination rate. On the basis of normal production, it is better to improve appropriately the basicity and decresase the temperature of blast furnace slag, increase the number of tapping of slag and iron, and maintain the[w(MgO)]and[w(Al2O3)]at approximately 11% and 16%. The above measurements could improve the dechlorination capacity of blast furnace slag and reduce the negative effect of chlorine on the blast furnace smelting and subsequent equipments.
