Abstract:Homogenization kinetics of adjusted blast furnace slag was investigated with the method of testing viscosity on the basis of blast furnace slag sampled from a steel work as the main material and iron tailings as the adjusting reagent. The study reflected the homogenization process of melting, dissolution and diffusion of iron tailings. SiO2 content and mineralogical composition in different parts of the remelting samples were determined to verify the feasibility of the method of testing viscosity to determine the homogenization of molten BF slag. The results showed that the viscosity of the adjusted molten BF slag was firstly decreased, then increased and finally became stable with the homogenization time in the same acidity coefficient. The homogenization time of the adjusted molten BF slag increased with the increasing of addition quantity of iron tailings. The homogenization time increased significantly when the addition ratio of iron tailings was more than 15.88%. SiO2 contents in the top, medium and bottom parts of the slag sample were similar with the increasing of homogenization time under constant temperature. The mineralogical composition of slag sample was consistent with that of the complete homogeneous slag, which improved that determining the homogenization kinetics of adjusted BF slag through the method of testing viscosity was feasible. Pilot test confirmed that with the increase of the acidity coefficient, the fiber wire diameter increased and the chemical stability enhanced which conformed to the national production standards.
