Comment on Behavior of Energy Flow and Construction of Energy Flow Network for Steel Manufacturing Process
The physical essence of the dynamic operation of steel manufacturing process is described in this paper. It is pointed out that in the steel manufacturing process, the ferrogenious flow is accompanied by energy flow, but the energy flow sometimes operates with ferrogenious flow, sometimes operates separately. And there is not only ferrogenious flow network and related operating program, but also the energy flow network and its program, which related with ferrogenious flow transform. It is stressed that the material balance and heat balance are not the only way for studying the function of energy conversion. The new concept of dynamic input-output and the energy flow network should be used to further promote the energy-saving and emission reduction work in steel plants. The operation dynamic mechanism of energy flow in a steel plant and the design principles of energy control center are also discussed in this paper. And then, a series of measures of energy-saving and emission reduction are proposed based on the mechanism of ferrogenious flow and carbon energy flow system. The connotation of “buying coal only, no buying electricity and no fuel” and the “zero emissions” of by-product gases and other energy mediums are especially explained. It is proposed that energy-saving and emission reduction for Chinese steel plants would enter a new stage marked by building energy flow network- Energy Control Center.

Simulation on the behavior of Argon Bubbles in Slab Continuous Casting Mold
Aiming at the behavior of Argon Bubbles in Slab continuous casting mold with cast speed 1.7m/min, the influence of blowing argon flow rate on bubble size, bubble distribution, the liquid surface level oscillation and behaviors of slag-melt were investigated by using water model and numerical simulation, the 190 mm×1900 mm slab mold is taken as an object of study. The results show that with increasing gas flow rate in nozzle the size of bubbles in mold increased, the bubble numbers near the narrow face of the mold decreased and most of the bubbles float upward to the surface of the mold in regions around the submerged entry nozzle. The emulsified slag entrapment, metal level bareness and slag entrapment near the nozzle were mainly caused by blowing gas flow rate.

The Generation Mechanism of Calcium aluminate Inclusion
A part of study on the generation mechanism of calcium aluminate’s inclusions by the means of heterogeneous nucleation theory was done. The calculation results show that when the acid solution aluminum is 0.03 percent and temperature is 1873K, if the Al2O3 inclusion generate in the molten by homogeneous nucleation, the dissolved oxygen must get 32.9x10-6 .Before Al-Killed, the dissolved oxygen is about 0.02%,so the reaction can happen. But after Al-killed ,the dissolved oxygen of getting equilibrium is about 3.3x10-6. It’s difficult to generate the CaO by homogeneous nucleation because of the low dissolved oxygen after Al-Killed. The Calcium aluminates inclusion generate on the surface of Al2O3.The reaction is [Ca]+(x+1/3)Al2O3=(CaO).yAl2O3 and the process is Al2O3CA6CA2CACxAy(liquid). This phenomenon was verified by SEM/EDS image. Keyword: calcium aluminate’s inclusion, generation mechanism, nucleation, heterogeneous

Modeling on Dendrite Growth for Medium Carbon Steel of Continuous Casting Process
Prediction and control of steel microstructure during continuous casting process is an essential task for steel production. Studies on the micro- structural parameters, which are hardly measured directly during high temperature solidification process, have significance for that purpose. Dendrite growth is an important phenomenon during steel solidification process, which is the main existing style in the inner side of the solidifying steel. In the current paper, a simplified numerical method for the dendrite growth was used to analyze and calculate some micro- structural parameters for both medium carbon steel and AISI304 type stainless steels under different casting conditions. The dendrite tip radius, dendrite growth velocity, dendrite arm spacing, temperature gradient and the dendrite tip temperature in the front of solid and liquid interface were investigated and comparisons of these parameters for the two steel grades were carried out. Parametric studies for these two steel grades were also studied. The comparisons showed that the micro- structural parameter values of stainless steel were all smaller than that of the carbon steel due to its special compositions and solidification mode characteristics.

The simulating analysis of the bending-head of slab for hot rough rolling
By the large finite element simulating software, DEFORM, the bending-head of plate slab for hot rough rolling has been analyzed in multi-technological conditions, the influencing factors and their relations to the bending-head has been expressed, and the regression analysis of calculation results has been carried out. The results show that: when the press-down ratio is smaller, the rolls speed difference has the most strongest contribution to the bending-head of slab, the bending-head increases as the rolls speed difference抯 increasing, and others influence can be removed by adjusting the rolls speed difference; when the reduction ratio in pass is oversize, adjusting the rolls speed difference is invalid and must adjust the reduction in pass to control the slab’s bending-head.

Research and Application of Flatness Target Curve Setting Model for Cold Rolling Mill
As the target of flatness control, flatness target curve is an important component of the closed loop feedback flatness control system. In order to improve the flatness of cold rolled strips, a basic flatness target curve was set dependent on the flatness discrimination model in revamp of the 1250 6-H reversing cold mill. For purpose of avoiding influence coming from temperature, coil shape as well as geometric error of winder, series of compensation curves were set in accordance with the rolling process and equipment condition in site. At the same time, additional manual curves were set which brought flexibility to flatness control. The applications show that the model of flatness target curve is capable in flatness control and is significant to obtain good flatness. Strip profile was effectively controlled and was met the need of following processing.

STUDY ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF Fe-Mn-Si-Al STEELS
The tensile properties of three steels (Fe-30Mn-3Si-3Al, Fe-15Mn-2Si-2Al and Fe-15Mn) show that yield strength and fracture strength increase, and expansion ratio of elongation percentage elongation strain decreases with the decrease of Mn, Si and Al contents. Frequency of Coincidence site lattice grain boundary (CSL) is 83.4%, 36% and 21% for three steels, respectively. Deformation twinning is comprised of a primary twins and secondary twins. A angle between the primary twins and secondary twins is about 60 degree. Most of secondary twins grows in the primary twins. But, some of secondary twins traverse the primary twins boundaries in the heavy deformation band.

Austenite Grain Growth Behavior in Nb-Ti Microalloyed Steel
Nb and Ti are the most common microalloying elements in pipeline steel. The effects of the microalloying elements Nb and Ti in Nb-Ti microalloyed steel and the reheating schedule on the austenite grain growth were investigated using heat treatment and vacuum carburizing treatment. The results showed that during reheating process, the austenite grain size in tested steel increased with an increase in the reheating temperature. In normal niobium-containing steel, titanium content should be controlled in a certain range (approximately 0.010%~0.015%), to obtain small reheated austenite grain. Moreover, with the same titanium content, the austenite grain in a steel with high niobium content grows obviously, and the steel with high niobium content has a different optimum titanium content range from that of the steel with normal titanium content.

The Characteristics of Pearlite Structure after Deformation of Austenite in Steel 35
The pearlite evolution of undercooled austenite (Ae1) of steel 35 after different deformation and the subsequently varied cooling has been investigated by means of hot compression simulation experiment. It shows that transitional areas with rich carbon are observed at the interface between the ferrite and martensite under the condition of water quenching after deformation. The tiny pearlite forms after heavy deformation (0.92) and lower temperature (690℃). After deformation and slow cooling, the smaller pearlite block can be found with the decreasing deformation temperature and the increasing strain. The lamellar cementite in the pearlite broke up and a large number of granular cementite precipitate on the ferrite boundaries.
