Abstract:The curved calibration test block is used to calibrate the incidence point, refraction angle, scanning zero point and speed of convex curved surface probe. It can be also used to measure the performance indicators of the instrument such as horizontal linearity, vertical linearity and dynamic range. Therefore, it is an urgently needed nondestructive testing technology and method for ultrasonic probe manufacturers, calibration laboratories and user manufacturers. The technical characteristics and design principle of the bellyband test block, as well as its special and conventional purposes were introduced. The bellyband test block could not only ensure the accurate positioning of defects detected by the curved surface angle probe, but also could improve the circumferential ultrasonic testing level of concave curved surface forgings, castings, pipe fitting holes and weld surfaces. At the same time, it was multipurpose to calibrate the performance and sensitivity of the instrument. The appearance of bellyband test block would play an important role in improving the quality of steel products.
