Present Status and Prospect of Vacuum Strip Coating Processes
The application and features of vaccum strip coating processes such as thermal jet evaporation, magnetron sputtering, electronbeam evaporation and plasma enhanced EB evaporation process were reviewed. This technology is walking towards mass production and has been realized in pilot lines at many steelmakers. The main advantages of vacuum strip coating processes are environmentfriendly, excellent film properties, versatile film material and easiness to integrate with other processes. The potential products would be surface modified current products, coatings for critical working conditions, interfacial layer, functional and composite coatings. The main problem for industrialization lies in the products and market orientation.

Research on Influence of Boric Acid Composite Agent on Coke Reactivity and Acting Mechanism
Boric acid composite agent was sprayed on hot coke and the effects on coke reactivity, shielding from alkali and resistance to erosion of alkali were studied. The composition and morphology of coke surface after spray was analyzed using EDS and XPS. The results showed that the decomposition of boric acid happens on coke surface and B2O3 is produced covering on the surface of coke pores to prevent coke from contact with CO2.Boric acid decreases coke reactivity, shielding the coke from alkali and increases resistance to erosion of alkali. The degree of influence increases with boric acid concentration.

Study on Thermodymatics of Magnetic Roasting of Magnetic Separated Concentrates at Daye Mine
Magnetic roasting followed by magnetic separation is a complex technique for beneficiation of tailing with high siderite at Daye Mine.Thermodynamic conditions of magnetic roasting are analyzed. The experiment results show that by CO dessociated from siderite and weak reducing atmosphere formed, low grade hematite with siderite could be reduced to magnetite totally within 10 to 60 seconds. By the wet magnetic separation at low intensity, the reduced ore is easily separated, and quality of concentrate is enhanced (w(TFe)>60%).

Simulation Research on Temperature Distribution in Tundish
A finite element model was built to describe the temperature field in the tundish by using of turbulence theory. The application of FEM to simulation of temperature field in the tundish and description of temperature distribution in the tundish was presented. The results indicate that the flow of molten steel in tundish in many cases is under nonisothermal condition, and the temperature distribution pattern of molten steel is different. The temperature distribution in modified tundish is homogeneous and such tundish is useful to enhance the quality of continuou cast slab.

Shape GrindingOriented Thermal Deformation Research of Work Roll of Hot Strip Rolling Mill
For hot strip rolling mill the work rolls are ground at warm after rolling. The shape of ground cooled work rolls is difficult to reach the set value because of the remaining uneven thermal deformation.Due to difficulties of measurement,a reasonable physical measurement method was established, and the temperature distribution and thermal roll shape of work roll after rolling can be accurately measured. The complicated heat transfer boundary conditions of work roll were taken into account and the numerical simulation was made with finite difference analysis to determine the temperature field and thermal deformation of work rolls cooled in the air. The computed and measured results coincided satisfactorily. The thermal deformation of work roll at different time after rolling should be simulated and the shape of groumd roll can be set by the superposition of target roll shape before rolling and the thermal roll shape at grinding,in this way a basis and computation method for appropriate roll shape grinding are provided.

Analysis of Oversize in Thickness of Plate at Head and Tail Ends
For plate rolling mill, the influence of slab temperature, head end immersion at biting, use of AGC system, pressure sensor and broadening ratio on oversize in thickness of plate at head and tail ends is analyzed.Low temperature at plate head and tail ends greatly affects the oversige in thickness, because not only of increased plasticity coefficient, but of genetic effect of this influence. The influence of head immersion at biting on thickness of head and tail ends can be removed by immersion compensation. The influence of biting without AGC can be partly reduced by slowing the biting speed. If broadening ratio is too low, the thickness at head and tail ends would be increased, and the thickness would reduced if this ratis is too high. The results afford theoretical base for gauge control at head and tail ends and were proved by practice.

Enrichment of Cu,Ni in Surface Oxidation Layer of CopperBearing AgeHardening Steel
Enrichment of Cu,Ni in surface oxidation layer of copperbearing agehardening steel was investigated. The results showed that copper enriched liquid phase is formed at reheating temperature of 1100~1200 ℃, and the liquid Cu enriched phase is penetrated along austenite grain boundary leading to surface cracking. But copper enriched liquid phase is not formed at reheating temperature of 1000 ℃ and 1300 ℃. The structure of copperrich phase in scale is changed by addition of nickel, and NiCu enriched phase is stayed in oxidized layer in form of granular particle which inhibits copper enriched phase from penetration into the base metal.

Research of Flaking in Wheel Steel (Ⅰ)
The mechanism of flaking in wheel steel and the effects of flaking on fracture were investigated. The results show that a blisters nucleate and grow through diffusion and gathering of hydrogen atoms and vacancies when the hydrogen pressure is increased, microcracks initiate at the wall of the blister, and propagate which results in formation of flaking. The fracture with flaking is quasicleavage, similar to that of hydrogeninduced delayed cracking. The fracture morphology of the sample containing flaking is dependent upon the failure mode and the thickness of the sample. There is no effect of flaking on fracture surface morphology besides secondary cracks and local quasicleavage fracture.

Influence of Coiling Temperature and Total Cold Rolling Reduction Rate on Mechanical Properties of BContaining 08A1 Steel
Bcontaining((40~60)×106,mass fraction) and Bfree 08Al hot strips produced by CSP process were used for experiment. The hot strips were coiled at different temperatures and then cold rolled with different reduction rate. After recrystallization annealing, the formability(rvalue and nvalue) and mechanical properties (YS,TS and A) were measured by tensile tests, in addition, two kinds of annealed sheets (coiling temperature 620 ℃;75% reduction) were analyzed by Xray diffraction(ODF) and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). The results showed that coiling temperature and total coldrolling reduction rate have remarkable influence on the formability and mechanical properties of Bcontaining and Bfree 08A1 steels after recrystallization annealing.ODF EBSD tests showed that the fraction of γfiber texture in Bcontaining steel is lower than that in Bfree steel, nevertheless, the rotating cubic texture ({001} <110>) and Goss texture ({011} <100>) are much more than that in Bfree steel.

Effect of Heat Treatment on Mechanical Properties of 30MnSi PC Steel Bar
Focusing on some problems of 30MnSi prestressed concrete (PC) steel bars such as poor delayed fracture resistance, mechanical property instability, high yield ratio and so on, the tempered sorbite should be obtained by thermal refining to solve these problems and achieve excellent mechanical properties. The relationship between heat treatment parameters and tensile strength, elongation, yield ratio was obtained respectively. The effect of heat treatment parameters on microstructure, strength and ductility of the 30MnSi PC steel bars was investigated and analyzed systematically. Optimum strength and plasticity can be obtained by quenching at 920960 ℃ and tempering in the range of 390430 ℃ with constant heating time.

Study on Production of Manganese Sulfate by Absorption of SO2 From Sintering Fume With Pyrolusite and Mild Manganese
The BFconverter route of steelmaking is a chemical process of iron and coal. Sulfur dioxide is released in sintering process which can be absorbed by pyrolusite and mild manganese to produce manganese sulfate. The experiments of removal of SO2 with pyrolusite and mild manganese were performed, and the pH scale of pulp was controlled; utilizing the oxidability of MnO2 and reducibility of SO2, the pyrolusite pulp was put into the absorption tower of padding. The above90% absorptivity of flue dust indicated that wet dust collection was available to this technique, in which the absorptivity of SO2 was above 95%, and the byproduct technical grade manganese sulfate was produced. The technique is proved to be a new technology on:removal of SO2, for waste treatment.
