Problems of EAF Steelmaking in China
Development of EAF steelmaking in China is reviewed. Because the scrap and the electric power are in short supply, the difficulty of EAF steelmaking is that the EAF steel cost is higher than that of converter steel. And this has resulted that the rate of EAF steel is decreasing year after year, as second case since 1990 in China. There are three measures to deal with this difficulty the first one is producing high added value steel, the second one is shortening the tap to tap time and decreasing cost by adding a part of hot metal and using more oxygen in EAF steclmaking; and the third one is guiding the steelmaking plants to carry out the second round investment to develop the modern electric arc furnace.

Thermodynamical Study on Reduction of EnergyStored Iron Ore Powder
Energy storing mechanism and thermodynamics of reduction of mechanically milled iron ore powder were studied. Particle size of ore powder can not be refined infinitely by milling, but its microcosmic crystallines can be refined gradually until amorphous structure is formed. The stored energy of iron ore consists of surface energy, crystal boundary energy and dislocation energy, with crystal boundary energy as the major component, and contribution of surface energy is small. The equilibrium content of CO or H2 for reducing energy stored magnetite and wustite is decreased, so it is advantageous to improve gas efficiency, reduce reduction temperature of energy stored iron ore by coal.

Effect of Different Refining Processes on Inclusions
The inclusion and gas content in molten steel and slabs of J55 steel grade for oil casings were researched with two processes: LDRHLFCC and LDLFCC respectively to study the effect of inclusion and gas content on mechanical properties of final products. The experimental results show that inclusion content in molten steel and slabs and quality of final products produced by two refining processes are at the same level. Thus the production cost can be cut down by adopting LDLFCC.The results offer theoretical basis for process design of new steel grades.

Optimized Configuration of AlloySteel Bar Production Using EAF Process
With the development of the alloysteel and continuous casting technology at home and broad in recent years, the authors put forward some suggestions for the alloy steel bar production by using EAF steelmaking process. And the practicability of matching eight kinds of EAF with continuous casters and rolling mills to produce modern bar is also discussed. The popular trend in the world in EAF steel manufacture process (1 EAF→1 refining furnace→1 continuous caster→1 main rolling mill) is that the capacity of over 100 tons EAF is widely used. But this is too high, and it will need too many cast strands of the continuous caster on the one hand and too bigger form of section on the other, which will impose difficulty on providing the suitable rolling mill to match with it.As a result, this EAF suits the plate plant better rather than alloy bar plant.Based on the current fact that the special steel plant uses EAF to produce machinery and the products are more used in the automobile industry,5090 tons EAF is the reasonable choice to produce bar steel, and the production scale should be limited to 40×104×90×104 t/a.

FEM Analysis and Experimental Study of Deformation Nonuniformity After Hot Compression
The hot compression of an eutectoid pearlite steel at 700 ℃ was simulated with finite element method (FEM) at a strain rate from 0.1 to 100 s-1. The distribution of efficient strain and strain rate in axial section of deformed samples was analyzed. The coincident region of practical with set conditions was determined and approved by metallographic examination. The results indicate that the efficient strain and strain rate are higher by about 40% than in the center of deformed samples, but are about 1/5~1/4 of set values at the end surface; The practical strain and strain rate accord with the set values at 2/53/5 distance from the end surface to the center of deformed sample, and the consistency between practical and set values is reached at 1/2 distance from the end surface to the center.

Texture Evolution of NonOriented Electrical Steel in CSPCold RollingAnnealing Process
Texture evolution of nonoriented electrical steel produced by CSP technology in cold rolling and annealing process was investigated by using of orientation distribution function (ODF) determination. The results show that the texture intensity in hot rolled nonoriented electrical steel strip decreases after cold rolling and annealing. The major orientation fibres in cold rolled electrical steel strip remain the same as in hot rolled strip, along <011>. The textures of annealed strip distribute uniformly. The grain orientation of steel strips turns from α fibre texture to γ fibre texture during cold rolling. The influence of (Si+Al) content on texture in cold rolled and annealed steel inclines to be weaker, with (Si+Al) content increasing from 1.0% to 1.5%.

Twins Observation During Deformation of Fe28Mn3Si3Al TWIP Steel
The microstructure of Twinning Induced Plasticity (TWIP) steel during tensile deformation was investigated with SEM and TEM. The results showed that the twins deformed firstly with workhardening, then other grains turn to favorable orientation to complete further deformation. This deformation mechanism of twinning induced plasticity provides excellent elongation with nonecking phenomenon. The orientations of first deformed twins are transferred to annealing twin’s hereditarily. The twintwin interaction, the twindislocation interaction and the twinsliding interaction play an important role during deformation.

Effects of High Strain Rate on Tensile Properties of 10Ni5CrMoV Hull Steel
Effect of strain rate on room temperature tensile properties of 10Ni5CrMoV hull steel was investigated at the strain rates between 1.6×10-31.2×103s-1.The experimental results show that strain rate doesn’t affect the fracture mechanism of intragranular dimple and mainly dislocation slipping;the tensile strength is increased slightly along with the increase of strain rate, however, the elongation doesn’t decrease in general which is decreased firstly and raised later with the increase of strain rate, the high strain rate doesn’t embrittle the 10Ni5CrMoV steel. The experimental results can be explained by dislocation slipping.

Preparation and Application of High Emissivity Coating on Regenerator of Hot Blast Stove for Energy Saving
A new micronanometer coating on regenerator of hot blast stove for energy saving was prepared by ultra fining technology. The results showed that the emissivity of coatings is 0.93 and its thickness is about 300 μm. Application of hot stoves with such regenerators to 350 m3 and 1750 m3 BF indicated that the coating makes the blast temperature increase by 57 ℃ and 28 ℃ respectively, reduces the fluctuation of blast temperature, leads to a fuel saving of 10% due to intensification of heat radiation convection, and increasing heat conductivity of bricks resulting in increase of heat capacity of the regenerator, It can be seen that application of such coating gives good economic benefits.
