Process Optimization on Slab Soft Reduction for Bloom-Slab Caster
Take the bloom-slab caster in Xiangtan Iron and Steel Co., as an example, a numerical model was developed for the simulation of solidified thickness curve based on the solidified shell test. The result of the simulation was compared with the caster’s, pointing out the deviation between the final solidification, and the optimized parameters was put forward during the soft reduction process. The process parameter optimization obviously improved the center quality of billet, and the result also showed that the process optimization scenario was proved to be accurate and reliable.

Study on Billet Solidification Structure by Numerical Simulation
The continuous casting process of 28MnCr5 produced at 50 t EAF in special steel of Laiwu Steel Corporation was studied. The solidification structures of 28MnCr5 billets were simulated by CAFE of ProCAST, so that the superheat effect on solidification structures would appear. The results indicated that superheat had little effect on shell thickness when it ranges from 10 ℃ to 40 ℃, the columnar crystals increased and isometric crystals reduced with superheat. The solidification structures were up to standard of 28MnCr5 when superheat were 10-20 ℃.

Application of Dynamic Secondary Cooling Water in Continuous Casting Machine
Reasonable dynamic secondary cooling water can improve the slab quality effectively,and it is also important to control the continuous casting process. Because superheat control is poor, the final position of surface temperature and solidification has been changed, so that the influence casting quality was affected. By using the methods of "equivalent speed" and "solidification model control", different districts of the cooling water with different superheats were adjusted. So that the slab surface temperature and the solidification position stability were ensured to be stable under stable casting speed and different superheats.

Calculation and Application of Pinch Rolls in Square and Round Billet Continuous Casting Machine of Pangang
Optimization scheme is elaborated for supporting rolls of pinch roll segment in No.3 square and round billet continuous casting machine of Pangang (hereinafter CCM). By means of optimizing the configuration of supporting rolls, the structure of pinch roll segments is simplified with fewer rolls. Hence, withdrawal resistance is reduced together with lowered odds of billet lagging during abnormal accidents, and both on-line maintenance and off-line repair are lessened and facilitated, which reduce the consumption of spare parts and guarantee the economic benefits of CCM.

Tundish Flow Field Digital-to-Analog Research
Aiming at Hangang No.3 steelmaking eight machine eight flow billet caster tundish, through the establishment of numerical model, the flow field rule of molten steel in tundish rule was researched under the condition of setting slag wall. And the effect on the flow field of molten steel of slag and wall by RTD curve was also analyzed. Good experiences have already been accumulated for accumulating billet tundish flow field of molten steel.

Measurement and Analysis of Mould Copper Tube
The continuous casting machine for large round blooms was put into production in 2006, which was introduced from Italy by our company. The steel output through mould copper tubes and actual back-taper control of copper tubes manufactured in China have great influence on cast bloom quality during the actual production and transformation of mould copper tubes. By adopting the copper tube detector, not only the problems of actual taper control and steel output through copper tubes during the casting are solved, but also the measures to improve boom quality and to control the steel breakout are provided.

Manufacture and Research of Extra-Thickness Plate Used for Deep-Sea Oil Drilling Platform
A high strength and toughness deep-sea oil drilling platform structure steel XG D36-Z35 (80~100 mm)was developed by a series of advanced technologies such as multi-micro alloy compound design, LF+VD refining, casting, TMCP rolling and normalizing heat treatment. The results show the steel has good metallurgical quality, high mechanical properties, which can meet the requirements of consumers. The qualified ratio of ultrasonic flaw detection attained 99.8%, the yield strength and tensile strength were more than 365 and 515 MPa respectively, and extensibility was more than 30.5%; Moreover, thickness directional section shrinkage also was more than 39.2%; and under -20 ℃, the 1/4 and 1/2 impact energy on different positions was more than 79 and 81 J respectively.

Calculation Analysis of Stuffing Sand on Molten Steel Oxygen Content
From the practical significances of improving the steel products‘ cleanliness, the stuffing sand is discussed. Based on it, the influence of the stuffing sand on the oxygen content of the liquid steel in one steel factory was analyzed. Through theoretical calculation, the conclusion is that the stuffing sand is detained in the slag after it enters the tundish with the start-up casting of ladle so that the slag’s oxidation was increased. According to the oxygen balance between the slag and molten steel, the stuffing sand could increase the oxygen content of the molten steel and reduce its cleanliness.

Software development, hardware architecture and application with independent intellectual property rights of slab quality database in Han Steel were introduced. The important role of slab continuous casting quality database was analyzed in resolving continuous casting quality control issues and the realization of digital and informatization. The transportation and promotion of the slab quality database was elaborated.
