Study on key technology of billet high speed continuous casting
As the orientation of traditional continuous casting, high speed continuous casting is the effective technology means to give full play to the advantage of the continuous casting. For the problem of the billet casting under high casting speed, the key technology is discussed to achieve billet high speed continuous casting, and the significance of the development billet high speed continuous casting technology also is put forward.

Effect of nozzle types on the flow pattern and temperature distribution of the ultra-wide slab continuous casting mold
A coupled mathematical model of the melt flow and heat transfer in super-wide slab casting mold was built, it was computed that the molten steel fluid flow, level fluctuation and temperature distribution, and compared their differences in 4-hole, 5-hole submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and bifurcated SEN. Meanwhile, the temperature distribution of molten steel at mold outlet was discussed, in the three nozzle structures. The simulation results showed that the molten steel fluid flow in 4-hole and 5-hole SEN were superior to the bifurcated SEN, and the temperature distribution of molten steel in 5-hole SEN mold outlet was more beneficial to the solidification of molten steel, at the same time, the center segregation was improved.

Development and fine control of monitoring system during LF refining furnace production process
Considering the application of refining field in the third steelmaking plate of Han-Steel, the monitoring system during LF refining furnace production process is developed based on PLC. The system configuration, database development and data communication are discussed and the design process and main function are introduced. The reasonable process mode is formulated using fully automatic monitoring and history inquiry functions of the system in charging,bottom blowing,power supply,temperature measurement,wire feeding,static blowing,etc. during refining production process,and supervise the field operators in accordance with the standard operation process. It implements fine control in field and reduces the cost of the alloy and the power supply,which obtains good economic results.

Controlling technology of reducing SEN clogging in ultra low carbon steel casting
The SEN is frequently clogged by high melting point Al2O3 inclusions when the ultra low carbon steel is casted in Hanbao steelmaking plant. The SEN clogging can lead to large amount of liquid level fluctuation, which cause stopper plugging up, and finally the SEN is forced to replace in order to maintain production. In order to reduce and avoid larger amount of liquid level fluctuation, SEN clogging, it mainly adopted adding to tundish wall, dam and current regulator; increasing the staneling teme of liquid steel in the tundish to improve the floating of incllusions; detecting upper nozzle permeability before using; chucking away foreign matter in the tundish before baked to avoid SEN clogging due to the inclusions; checking kinds of pipeline permeability and stopper mechanism flexibility; adjusting reasonably flow and pressure of nozzle argon and stopper argon according to the mold surface active state at casting. Through taking these measures under normal condition of casting equipments and steel purity, amount of liquid level fluctuation and SEN clogging rate had effectively reduced, and it didn’t needs replace SEN in six casting. Slab quality was improved.

Application research on thickness measurement of solidified slab shell by pin-shooting
The internal quality requirement of steel in dual-phase steel production process is strict. In particular, the central segregation of solute elements seriously impacts the performance of steel. Soft reduction at the solidification end in continuous casting process can significantly improve the central segregation and its effectiveness is closely related with the depressed position. Choosing the continuous casting process of dual-phase steel 590DP as a study object, the exact location of solidification end under different working conditions has been determined by pin-shooting test, and the prediction model of solidified shell has been constructed using the results of test. For slab of 230 mm×1 200 mm section size, model prediction has been made for the solidification process under casting speed of 1.0 m/min and 1.2 m/min respectively, and soft reduction at the solidification end is implemented pertinently. The results show that the internal quality of slab has been improved significantly. The center segregation of slab upgrades from the original B1.0 to C0.5. The Mannesmann standard coincidence rate of the slab center segregation increases from 72% to 95.3%.

Discussion and optimization of SS400-A/B low silicon steel production process
The SS400-A/B low silicon steel is successfully developed by modifying the key factors in the steelmaking process, such as control C content of converter endpoint, increasing the mass of refining slag, deoxidation without increasing Si content, protective casting in the whole process, blowing argon into the stopper, etc. The practice results show that the molten steel has a good castability, the chemical composition can totally meet the requirements of the customers, and the inclusions are well controlled.

Choice and application experiment on special mold slag of nozzle replacement in billet continuous casting
The choice and experiment situation about special mold slag of nozzle replacement are introduced. The result shows that the slag has a reasonable viscosity and melting property, which can evenly cool continuous casting billet and ensure lubrication. At the same time, it greatly prevents binding and relieves scab. It will avoid the unmelted mold slag involving into molten steel to form large inclusions. The useless billet reduces by 100.2 ton per month because of the application of special mold slag and that brings obvious economic benefits.

Application of segment replacement device in slab caster
Installing and replacing the segment are important links of slab continuous casting machine design and production. The convenient, reliable and flexible replacement device is needed for the segment. The conventional segment replacement device is difficult to satisfy the various types of continuous casting machines, especially in the limited height plants and where the crane cannot reach to the segment area. In order to solve these problems, CISDI provides an appropriative segment replacement device.

Reconstruction and practice of continuous casting grinding machine
Baosteel Special Steel Co., Ltd. have three billet grinding machines for surface grinding in 60 t production line of steelmaking plant. In order to adapt to the adjustment of product structure and improve production efficiency, the defects existing in the equipment were reconstructed through the application of various technologies with independent intellectual property rights. The improvement measures to solve the problems were introduced, which could provide the reliable implementation basis for the same type grinding machine transformation.

Effects of M-EMS on quality of medium-carbon steel billet
Through magnetic field measurement of M-EMS at different electromagnetic stirring parameters in the billet caster mould, the characteristics of magnetic field were analyzed; and the changing patterns of the magnetic field with current and frequency and the distribution characteristics of the magnetic field were summarized. Through confirmation of the index of center carbon segregation and ratio of equiaxial crystal, M-EMS parameters were determined as the current index was 4 and the frequency index was 1. The results showed that the carbon segregation index could be controlled to less than 1.05 and the equiaxial crystal ratio could be controlled to more than 60% for medium carbon steel.

Cause and control of transverse crack at outer arc corner of HP345 slab
Formation mechanism of transverse cracks at outer arc corner was investigated systematically about HP345 slab in Shougang Jingtang United Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. The results show that the main cause for the appearance of transverse cracks at outer arc corner is that the slab corner temperature at bending part is in the third brittle zone of steel, and the stress on slab outer arc is over that slab can bear. It is found that the occurrence rate of corner transverse crack is related to the width of the slab.Counter measures such as secondary cooling optimization for increasing corner temperature and[w[N]]×[w[Al]]content controlare carried out, insuring casting machine maintenances, which decreased slab corner transverse cracks obviously.

Research and application on high temperature mechanical property of medium carbon MnV series non-quenched and tempered steel billet
Through the study on strength and plasticity of medium carbon MnV series non-quenched and tempered steel billet at different temperatures within the scope of 650-1 200 ℃, their changing rule and the best plastic zone temperature range were found. When temperature is below 800 ℃, billet percentage reduction of area is no more than 75%. While temperature rises above 850 ℃, percentage reduction of area is obviously improved. Especially when temperature is over 925 ℃, percentage reduction of area is more than 95%. According to this, it is determined that the entry point temperature is over 925 ℃ and the exit point temperature is over 850 ℃, that the billet surface crack is reduced.

Causes analysis on the thermoplastic brittle region Ⅲ of medium manganese steel
Transverse corner crack is likely to occur on slab of medium manganese steel. The thermoplastic of medium manganese steel was studied using Gleeble thermal-mechanical simulator, and the causes of the brittle region Ⅲ were analyzed through microstructure characterization and thermodynamics analysis. The results show that the brittle region Ⅲwas occurred at the temperature of 550-775 ℃, and the ferrite phase transformation induced by deformation cause the lowest thermoplasticity at the deformation temperature of 750 ℃.Therefore, at the practical process, the quantity of water in the secondary cooling zone of continuous casting should be controlled carefully to avoid the corner crack of continuous cast billet.

Control of the key factors on the longitudinal crack on beam blank
Beam blank continuous casting is susceptible to initiate longitudinal crack, and the factors for the initiation of this crack defect can be attributed to seven aspects. The method of orthogonal collocation is used to deal with different processing levels, and the experiment and comparative analysis are carried out. The results show that the main factor that affects the initiation of longitudinal crack on beam blank in the current period is cooling intensity and equipment precision. By improving the cooling process and the accuracy of equipment, as well as the problems in the production, the initiation of the bulk longitudinal cracks is solved.
